GREENHAVEN NEIGHBORHOOD CHURCH

ABOUT US

WHO WE ARE

THE BODY OF CHRIST

Our purpose at Greenhaven Neighborhood Church is to reach people with the life-giving message of Jesus so that they might become fully devoted followers of Christ. We filter every idea, program, and budget request through our purpose statement. If it doesn't help us meet our purpose, then we don't do it.

A CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS

We strive to be a church without walls. Wherever there are barriers that keep people apart from God and one another, Jesus leads us to go beyond them for the sake of love. Instead of asking the age old question,"what would Jesus do?" we have begun to ask "what is Jesus doing?" in order that we might join Him.

A COMMUNITY OF BELIEVERS

Together we are a community of believers. What does that mean? It means that relationship is why we exist. A loving relationship with God and others is where true fulfillment lies. We are a community of believers learning how to love God and our neighbors.

OUR MISSION AND VISION

Greenhaven Neighborhood Church is becoming a community of character in our neighborhood for the name and fame of Jesus by growing together, going together, and knowing together the heart of God for each and for all.

BEING SALT AND LIGHT

Greenhaven Neighborhood Church has been serving the Sacramento area for over 50 years. GNC relocated to the Greenhaven/Pocket area over 30 years ago. It is our goal to be "salt and light" in our corner of the world as we love and serve others in Jesus' name. The Bible drives everything we do as we seek to foster meaningful relationships and Christ-centered lives.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Our understanding of God comes from the Bible. We believe that Jesus calls the people of the church to think, speak, and live biblically. To do so, we commit to believing, studying, and obeying the Bible as our trustworthy and final authority  (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21). Our confession of faith is a statement about what we believe the Bible has to say about living in our world today. As a biblical people, we commit to resolving questions about God and how we are to live by asking, “What does the Bible say?” and “How do we apply Scripture so that it guides how we live in today’s world?”

We continually seek a biblical vision of the work and mission of Jesus for individuals and for the world. Our passionate commitment is to live as God’s kingdom agents in the world, anticipating the glorious day when God’s kingdom is perfectly fulfilled.

  1. JESUS CHRIST - We believe  Jesus Christ is God incarnate, fully God and fully man. He was conceived and born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and gave his life as a ransom for sinners. Confession of Faith.
  2. GOD - We believe the one true God exists eternally in three persons: The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and that these, being one God, are equal in deity, power, and glory.  Confession of Faith.
  3. THE HOLY SPIRIT -  We believe the Holy Spirit regenerates and forever indwells all Christians. Either subsequently or at the same moment, Jesus Christ baptizes believers in the Holy Spirit to empower believers for ministry and witness. Confession of Faith.
  4. SIN - We believe Adam was created in the image of God, righteous and without sin. In consequence of his disobedience, all people are born subject to sin and are therefore sinners by nature and by choice. Confession of Faith.
  5. SALVATION - We believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. No ritual, work, or any other activity is required in order to be saved. Confession of Faith.
  6. THE CHURCH - We believe the Church is God's primary instrument through which He is fulfilling His redemptive purposes in the earth.  Confession of Faith.
